Inaugural CureFest Draws Crowd to National Mall in Washington DC

Pediatric cancer advocacy groups and hundreds of guests turned out on the National Mall in Washington, DC for CureFest. Noah’s Light Foundation was invited to attend and prominently displayed our banner showcasing the faces of 62 of the thousands of brave children affected by this terrible pandemic.

NLF founder and Noah’s Mom, Amber Larkin, stated, “I felt it important to take the faces of the children who are battling. These are our babies, they have names and they need our help.”

The inaugural event featured family friendly activities and inspirational stories by children and families struggling with cancer. Speakers told the crowd about their experiences, including Gabriella Miller, a young girl in the midst of her fight with an inoperable brain tumor. She told her audience that upon her diagnosis, her tumor was the size of a walnut, therefore her mission has become to obliterate her tumor, just as she could smash a walnut with a frying pan.

We would like to thank the DC area host organizations as well as the many children and families who joined us that day. It was a great way to kick off September, which is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. We would also like to thank our volunteer and Team Noah runner, Nevie Brooks, for her assistance in staffing our table and spreading the word about advances in pediatric cancer research.

Noah’s Light Foundation is happy to have participated in this event, as we met so many people whose stories affected us deeply. We have left Washington, DC energized and ready to carry on our mission to cure pediatric brain cancer.
